Work Permits

All minors who have not reached their 18th birthday need a work permit before starting work. Work permits may be obtained from the Career Resource Center during Center hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 3:00 pm. Individuals will need to bring with them a Driver's License or Birth Certificate.

Wages

Workers 16 and over (14 and over if covered by federal law) must receive at least $5.15 an hour and time and a half for more than 40 hours a week.

Hours of Work

  • 48 hours school and work combined maximum

  • 6 days in a week maximum

  • 14 & 15 year olds can not work before 7:00am or after 7:00pm

  • 16 & 17 year olds can not work before 6:00am or after 10:30pm (11:30pm when not regularly attending school)

  • Minors may not work more than five hours without a 30 minute break
