A vocational school, also sometimes referred to as a trade school is one operated for the express purpose of giving its students the skills needed to perform a certain job or jobs. It is usually a post-secondary school, but in some instances may take the place of the final years of high school. 

Career and Trade schools can be expensive.  They are usually privately owned and are in business to make a profit.  Costs vary depending on the type and length of the program.  In some cases, students may be eligible for financial aid.

Career an Trade school credits usually do not transfer because their requirements and the programs they offer vary tremendously.  Students should, therefore, never go to a career or trade school with the idea of transferring to a university.

Check out these schools carefully.  While there are many excellent career and trade schools, not all of these schools are reputable.  It is very important for students and parents to thoroughly investigate any school of consideration..
