Once you enter high school, all that you do becomes part of your record.
If you apply for a job years from now, the employer will look back at what you
did in high school. If you plan to attend college, the university you
apply to will look at your high school record.
You must be aware of your record and make it help you!

Developing Good Habits
Things To Do
*Do the best in everything you try. You never know what an
employer may think is important.
*Take the toughest course you can handle.
An average grade in a tougher class may look better than a high grade in
an easier course.
*Do your best on standardized tests. Tests results allow
employers to compare
you with students from other school districts.
*Keep your GPA as high as possible. Your hard work will
impress employers.
*Select courses based on what you want to do after high school.
*Work hard on your portfolio. It is your best chance to
present your best work
to an employer.
*Take part in a variety of activities. Participation will
show teamwork and
leadership skills.

Things To Avoid
*Avoid a poor attendance record. It will scare away
employers.
*Avoid alcohol and drugs.
*Avoid taking classes that are too easy. It shows an
employer that you do not
like hard work.
*Avoid being tardy. Avoid failing classes. It shows
you were not willing to work hard enough to
pass.

Developing Good
Habits
The purpose of an education is to develop you academically
and socially so that you will assume a role in the adult world. The work
and attendance patterns you develop in school will carry over into your adult
life. If your attendance habits in high school include frequent absence
and tardiness, your work habits will generally follow the same pattern. An
employer who sees poor attendance in your records will hesitate to hire you.
The habits you develop in school, whether good or bad, will be part of your
records and your life-style for a long time.
